According to journalist Ryan Taylor, West Ham is genuinely interested in signing Lorient striker Terem Moffi and has begun contract negotiations.
Lorient’s asking price, however, is significantly higher than what Premier League clubs are currently willing to pay.
In terms of West Ham’s interest in Moffi, Taylor remarked, “I believe they’ve got negotiations to sign the player.
“But at the same time there is a differentiation of price Lorient are looking for and West Ham are prepared to pay.
“Lorient are really willing to do business. They are looking at £20-25m for the striker. Premier League clubs are willing to pay around £15m.”
Gianluca Scamacca was added to West Ham’s forward lineup in the summer, but it appears David Moyes is still seeking to bolster the forward lineup.
Scamacca is improving but still needs more time to get used to the league’s tempo. Even if Michail Antonio hasn’t been at his best this season, the team has handled him exceptionally well given his advanced age.
This week, Wolves has been mentioned in connection with Antonio. Although Moyes would be hesitant to part with him, much will depend on what the Wolves are willing to pay for the striker.
This season, Moffi has scored 10 goals in 16 appearances for the French team in Ligue 1.
The Nigerian striker put on an outstanding performance in the 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain on November 6 and has scored some thunderous goals in the French league.
With his strength and speed, he quite literally intimidated the PSG defenders. He has great finishing ability, so it will be interesting to see whether the Hammers can up their offer and convince Lorient to sign him.
