President of Argentina Javier Milei has called on the Spanish government to ensure the safety of the Argentineans and shown support for Lionel Messi and his family following the vandalism of their Ibiza mansion by climate change activists.
On Tuesday, a gang of vandals stole into Messi’s €11 million estate on the island in Spain and painted the walls black and red.
The vandals also posed in the garden holding a banner written in English that read: “Help the planet. Eat the rich. Abolish the police.” Milei posted on X: “In Spain, communists who want to “murder the rich and abolish the police to end climate change” vandalized a home of Lionel Messi and his family. “I stand in solidarity with the Messi family for this cowardly and delusional event and I ask Pedro Sanchez’s government to guarantee the safety of the Argentine citizens who live in the Kingdom of Spain.
Envy, hate, and animosity toward the prosperous are the seeds of communism. In a free and civilized world, it has no place.
ESPN reported that Wessi, who bought the private residence in 2022 after leaving Barcelona, was not there when it was purchased but had used it on occasions when on vacation in the island.
In a statement, the activists said that their goal in engaging in this “non-violent civil disobedience” act was to expose the Spanish government’s inaction on climate change while simultaneously placing the blame on the wealthy.
The campaigners claim that Messi’s residence was constructed “illegally.”
